When we hired Sir John Harvey-Jones, former Chair of ICI and TV's first business 'Troubleshooter', to lead a never-been-done-before troubleshooting forum on the future of Heathrow Airport, we expected a treat for the audience. They got it in the form of a stimulating debate between the Managing Directors and Directors of some of the airport's key players - airlines, freight specialists, customers and members of the local community. Sir John was not afraid to challenge assumptions and put people on the spot with his observations and questions.
A team of facilitators worked with us. Following on from this we went on to train some 250 change facilitators at BAA airports, including shop stewards from among the substantial engineering workforce who helped to influence mindsets away from "we are technicians" to "we are airport customer service representatives."
